About this course
MISSION - My mission as a Hebrew language instructor is to make learning enjoyable while helping students reach their reading, writing and speaking goals.
OVERVIEW OF THE COURSE
Research shows children learn best when they are having fun with friends. In my class, students will learn Hebrew Alef Bet through a multi-media curriculum designed to help youth master the fundamental principles of the Hebrew language.
INSTRUCTIONAL GOALS
Using a multi-sensory Hebrew language curriculum to teach:
- Letter recognition
- Sound pronunciation
- Word decoding
- Writing block letters

By the end of this course, students will learn:
- How to identify and pronounce at least half of the 22 Hebrew letters and vowels.
- How to begin decoding Hebrew words which are the fundamentals of the reading process.
- How to begin writing their alef-bet in block letter form
- How to identify new Hebrew words

Makedah LeviTeacher of Language and Culture
When Morah Makedah (a.k.a. singer/songwriter Queen Makedah) is not touring, she is the Hebrew Language Instructor. Morah Makedah is a certified educator and an experienced and dedicated Hebrew language teacher with over 20 years of experience. She is here to help students pursue their goals towards fluency in reading, writing, and speaking Hebrew.
Her experience includes:
Over 7 years of full-time classroom experience as a certified K-12 public school teacher in Oakland (OUSD) and Richmond, California (WCCUSD) school districts. Advanced knowledge of biblical Hebrew up to the graduate level as a masters degree student at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Fluent in modern Hebrew with over 10 years of experience studying and living in Israel Has taught Hebrew classes for individuals, small groups, organizations and churches in the United States and online. She not only brings her wealth of experience but her passion for the holy tongue to all students of all ages who attend her class. ...
